Marc Engel is a two-headed monster: marketing researcher and comedian. Driven by a fascination with human behavior and the desire to empower and connect, he talks with—and more importantly, listens to—people from around the country to help his clients and audiences gain fresh perspectives.
He runs his own marketing research practice, which includes moderating, interviewing, strategy, insights and creative development. He leads not only focus groups but also Out of Focus Groups®, creative idea-generation and innovation sessions he's developed rooted in improvisation.
Marc began doing standup nearly 30 years ago (the same time he began in research). He now performs primarily at business, charity and Jewish events, recently opening for Second City at a research conference in Atlanta. As a counter-balance to all the fun and creativity, he is also a member of the California Bar.
Marc lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two teenage children, who keep him sane, laughing and grounded.
